25 Random Facts About The Author...

Recently, I've been getting bombarded by requests and tags for me to participate in Facebook's "25 Random Things" fad. I finally decided to go ahead and appease the masses, and suddenly started remembering and even realizing things about myself that I had long neglected to think about... so here I am, sharing some of the reasons and events which have helped to shape who I am today, enjoy!

1. I love playing Disc Golf, and I'm a passionate promoter of the sport. I even have a blog dedicated to my disc golfing adventures.

2. I have a deep fear about those I care about going to Atlanta, GA because of some past experiences.

3. I've dated too many women to count, but only fallen in love with four of them my entire life.

4. I'm naturally pessimistic, but I'm a people-person at heart. I hide my pessimism constantly and gracefully.

5. I used to give trust freely until they lost it, but now my trust must be earned. Few people make the grade.

6. I was a Sysop (System Operator) for two local BBS (Bulletin Board Systems) in the Raleigh, NC area when I was 12 years old, and even ran my own BBS.

7. I was hit by a car when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I remember seeing the headlights right before everything went dark. So yes, I've seen the "light," LOL...

8. I used to listen to nothing but country music. I think it's why I'm such a good and understanding listener. I now listen to ALL types of music, including a lot of classical pieces as of recently.

9. I'm teathered to my iPhone 24/7. Email, Internet, Texts, Games, Apps... it might as well be a part of my body. There are few people or things that keep me off of it for longer than a few minutes. These reasons that keep me off of my phone are some of the most important aspects of my life.

10. The movie that scared me more than anything else as a young child was Stephen King's "IT," I still HATE clowns to this day...

11. Tom Clancy is one of my favorite authors, but I also enjoy Ayn Rand's "Anthem," "Les Miserables" by Victor Hugo, and "Management Techniques from the Best Damn Ship In The Navy" by Captain D. Michael Abrashoff.

12. One of the most influential people in my youth, was Chief David Smith, United States Navy (Retired). He is more than a mentor, he is a close personal friend to this day.

13. My biggest fear in death, is the thought of dying alone and forgotten. No one should ever die alone.

14. I don't condone or accept any reason for why a man would ever need to hit a woman. I despise the thought of it, and proudly support corrective action against any man that feels the need to ever lay a harmful hand on any female.

15. I was stuck between Law and Engineering, and ultimately went down the Engineering path. I sometimes wonder if I was meant for something more than just these two career paths.

16. I am passionate about making a difference in the world, but I'm left unsure of how I might accomplish this. I want my life to have made a difference in the lives of others, and strive to do so daily.

17. Every personality and career test I ever took, indicated that I need to work in either Business, Engineering, or Social Work. I guess I'm a composite of several different personality types.

18. In order for me to be happy, I have to constantly be challenged. When I'm not challenged, I feel worthless. Some of my favorite jobs have been in high-stress and high-yield environments.

19. I truly believe a person can love more than one individual, and that just because you may have lost a love in the past, doesn't mean that you'll never find another love of your life. Never underestimate the timing and spontaneity of miracles.

20. I'm still friends with all of my ex-girlfriends. Many of which started out as best and/or close friends. I don't really believe in the "never date your best friend" theory. The best relationships are often right under your nose.

21. The most memorable moment of my 4 years in NJROTC, was standing on the deck of the USS Thomas S. Gates (Guided Missile Cruiser), staring mesmerized at the curn the propellers were causing during an emergency turn exercise. I can still see the vibrant blue/green hues in the water as it arced across the horizon.

22. My first job was working with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Division of Alcohol Law Enforcement (District IV). I thank Chief Smith for giving me that opportunity.

23. My most embarrassing moment was while I was on station in a control room. I picked up the red phone (I know...), and called my girlfriend at the time, not knowing that our entire conversation was being broadcasted throughout the entire building...

24. I think that Diane Lane, Meg Ryan, Jodi Foster, and Helen Hunt are some of Hollywood's most gorgeous actresses, and they will NEVER grow old...

25. I'm still looking for the meaning to my existence, the method to the madness, the remedy to the mundane, and the end of the status quo. I cherish near and dear to my heart, those individuals that challenge me in ways that help me keep my eyes open, and my passions alive. If nothing else, you are the reason to my existence, and forever shall I be grateful...
